Milestone: Approve Plan
A migration plan has been updated, based upon an update to the IT architecture. It needs to be reviewed by management and approved, followed by the definition of the next steps.
Main Description

Having an understanding of the gaps between the old target IT architecture and the new target architecture is the starting point for the update to the migration plan. This information is provided from doing a Task: Target vs. Existing Gap Analysis, but with the "target" being the updated target architecture and the "existing" IT architecture being the old target architecture. The next step is to understand the gaps and how they affect the existing migration plan. The new migration plan must address technical considerations, but must also include business considerations such as their needs for new or modified capabilities and cost/benefit considerations.

An updated migration plan needs to be reviewed by management and approved. Once approved the next steps (outlined/suggested in the Review Record) are typically actioned through the normal enterprise IT management processes, generically outlined in: Delivery Process: UAM in the Enterprise.

The approval of a Migration Plan will typically involve managers, both operations and technical, from the areas involved in the migration.
